Privacy

Plain version: your dice rolls never leave your device, and there is no account to make. Google Analytics does run on this site, and it does set cookies. Details below.

Your rolls

Every roll on this site is generated by your own browser. No roll, no total, and no dice notation you type is ever sent to a server. There is nothing to send it to. The site is a set of static files, with no database and no backend that accepts data.

That also means nobody, including me, can see what you rolled.

What is stored on your device

A few things are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them next time. Local storage stays on your computer or phone. It is not transmitted to me or to anyone else.

Clearing your browser's site data for dice-app.com removes all of it. So does using a private window, where nothing persists after you close it.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit, including your approximate location, your device and browser, the pages you view, and the site that linked you here. Your IP address is handled by Google as part of that process.

I use it to decide what to build and write next. I do not sell it, and I do not use it to identify individual people. But it is real tracking by a third party, and saying otherwise would be dishonest.

If you would rather not be counted, a tracker blocker, a browser that blocks third-party scripts, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on will all stop it. The site works exactly the same either way. Nothing on it depends on analytics loading.

Google's own explanation of what it collects is in the Google Privacy Policy.

Search Console

The site is verified in Google Search Console, which shows me the search queries that led people here and how pages rank. That data arrives from Google already aggregated. It contains no personal information and no way to trace a query back to a person.

Hosting

dice-app.com is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests your browser makes and keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses, for security and for keeping the site up. That is a normal part of serving a website and is outside my control. Cloudflare describes its own handling in its privacy policy.

Things this site does not do

Children

Plenty of people who use a dice roller are children, and the site is fine for them. It asks for nothing, collects no names or emails, and has no way to contact a visitor. The analytics described above apply to every visitor equally.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date below moves. There is no mailing list to notify, so checking back is the only way to see an update.

Questions about any of this go to info@dice-app.com.
